Led Zeppelin, il mito che non muore mai

Era da tanto che non scrivevo articoli sulla musica ed ho voluto ricominciare col botto, con i fantastici Led Zeppelin. I Led Zeppelin furono un gruppo musicale britannico nato nel 1968, considerato tra i grandi innovatori del rock e tra i principali pionieri dell'hard rock. La loro musica, le cui radici affondano in generi diversi tra cui blues, rockabilly e folk, ha costituito una formula del tutto inedita per l'epoca risultando di enorme influenza per tutti i gruppi rock tanto coevi quanto a venire. Il gruppo, scioltosi nel 1980, anno della morte del batterista, fu composto per l'intero periodo della sua attività da Jimmy Page (chitarre), Robert Plant (voce, armonica), John Paul Jones (basso, tastiere) e John Bonham (batteria, percussioni).

La discografia della band comprende nove dischi ufficiali pubblicati dal 1969 al 1982. Dal 1968 ad oggi la band ha venduto più di 300 milioni di dischi, risultando tra i gruppi di maggior successo commerciale nella storia della musica moderna. Il 12 gennaio 1995 i Led Zeppelin sono stati introdotti nella Rock and Roll Hall of Fame che ha affermato che l'influenza che il gruppo ha esercitato negli anni settanta è «rilevante come quella che i Beatles hanno avuto nel decennio precedente» e l'emittente VH1 ha definito i Led Zeppelin come «il più importante gruppo rock della storia». Nel 2007, a seguito dell'incredibile richiesta di biglietti per la loro esibizione all'O2 Arena di Londra (oltre 20 milioni di prenotazioni in circa 24 ore), la band è entrata nel Guinness dei primati per la maggior richiesta di biglietti per una singola esibizione dal vivo. La loro canzone più famosa, che tra l'altro è la mia preferita, è Stairway to Heaven, un vero capolavoro melodico.

A inizio dicembre 2012 i Led Zeppelin hanno ricevuto a Washington i Kennedy Center Honors, onorificenze riservate a chi, nel corso della propria carriera nello show business, ha arricchito la cultura americana. Nel corso dell'evento, trasmesso dalla CBS lo scorso 26 dicembre, diversi artisti hanno reso omaggio alla storica band inglese, tra cui gli Heart. La loro versione di Stairway to Heaven, il classico degli Zeppelin targato 1971, è stata così intensa da portare alle lacrime Robert Plant. Qui sotto vedete il video.

In 2007, as a result of the incredible demand for tickets for their show at the O2 Arena in London (over 20 million bookings in about 24 hours), the band entered the Guinness Book of Records for the most demand for tickets for a single live performance. Their most famous song, which by the way is my favorite, it's Stairway to Heaven, a true masterpiece of melodic.

In early December 2012, Led Zeppelin received the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, honors reserved for those who, in the course of his career in show business, has enriched American culture. During the event, broadcast on CBS on December 26, many artists have paid tribute to the historic British band, including the Heart.
